Imagine this: It’s Sunday, November 24. You’ve just returned home or you are watching your favourite show.  As you settle in, the lights go off, and you realize it’s time to top up your electricity meter. But when you enter the token, you get a “reject” error. The meter simply won’t accept it. You try again, and again, but each attempt ends in frustration. The lights stay off.

You are wondering if your village people are at work again. They are not responsible for this, let us explain what is happening. 

What’s The TID Rollover and Why Is It Important?

The TID (Token Identifier) Rollover is an essential update for all prepaid meters, designed to keep them running smoothly. Every 24 years, the token system resets to prevent token duplication, ensuring that each token you receive is unique and compatible with your meter. 

Without this update, tokens issued after November 24 will appear as duplicates, making them invalid. Even tokens issued before that date will stop working. It’s as if your meter has frozen, unable to process new tokens or even the ones you have generated previously.

What Will Happen on November 24?

On November 24, any meter that hasn’t been rolled over will be locked out from accepting tokens. The consequence? Complete loss of power. With Venco Support unavailable on this day, it will be difficult to get immediate help if your meter remains unrolled. This means you could be left in the dark, literally, without an easy solution.
